Sawubona! Welcome to South Africa.
Early morning on Day 1 (around 5am) we depart Johannesburg, the ‘City of Gold’ and head off on an adventure of a lifetime. A truly unique African experience unfolds as we enter the Greater Kruger National Park ecosystem arriving at our Campsite in time for dinner (570 km, approx 7-8 hours travel time including stops along the way).
One of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa, Kruger National Park is home to over 500 bird species, 100 species of reptile and 150 mammal species, including the Big Five and the endangered African wild dog.
After settling into camp we venture out into the bush as we track the wildlife of the African wilderness in open 4×4 vehicles. Our afternoon Game Drive takes us into Big Five territory and continues on into the night where with the aid of spotlights we are introduced to some of the elusive creatures of the night.
Our base camp for the next 2 nights is in the Andover Game Reserve which borders the Kruger National park.
While at our base camp, we camp in permanent two-person dome tents (bedding is provided). Our campsites are National Park facilities and generally have hot and cold showers with flushing toilets.
