Thornhill has implemented Covid-19 protocol at our lodge, educating staff and guests and introducing measures to ensure we all stay safe in the face of this global health emergency.

OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IS THE WELL-BEING AND SAFETY OF OUR GUESTS AND TEAM MEMBERS.

To secure just that, we have rigorous procedures and routines in place at all our hotels regarding enhanced cleaning, physical distancing and our food and beverage offerings. We look forward seeing you!

HOW WE SECURE THE SAFETY OF OUR GUEST AND TEAM MEMBERS

NEW PROCESSES FOR CLEANING AND HYGIENE

Our team members are being trained in enhanced cleaning routines, both within personal hygiene and new cleaning routines. We are also following COVID-19 guidelines provided by local health authorities.

ENHANCED CLEANING

  • High-touch areas, such as bathrooms, remote controls, are disinfected and cleaned with a higher frequency
  • Hand alcohol stations and disposable gloves are available in lobbies and by restaurants
  • All tables, menus and chairs in our restaurants are cleaned at a much higher frequency, and after each seating
  • Loose items such as pens, note pads and information material are removed from rooms and meeting rooms

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

  • We have limited the numbers of seats in our restaurants and public areas
  • You will find distancing floor markers in our receptions, by the elevators and in our restaurants, as well as signs reminding our guests and team members to keep a distance.

REVISED FOOD & BEVERAGE OFFERINGS

  • We provide the possibility for an individually packaged breakfast
    throughout 2020
  • A limited range of food and beverages, such as warm and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches, salads and sweets, are available in our shop

Our Affordable Safari Lodge in South Africa, is located within the Greater Kruger Park ecosystem in South Africa.

Lion The magnificent Kruger National Park and renowned Private Game Reserves within our area.

Experience the thrill of tracking Africa’s Big Five, namely Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Lion and Leopard through the African bush on dawn and dusk game drives in open Safari Vehicles.

All Kruger Park game drives are conducted by Thornhill’s experienced rangers and game trackers ensuring that your safari will remain an unforgettable experience.

Our game drives offer the perfect opportunity for close encounters with Africa’s Big and Small Five and are a photographers dream. Big Five Game drives are conducted on a daily basis and can be tailor-made to suit your every desire.

Clothing Tip: Pack a warm jacket as early morning and evenings can be cold.

This magnificent route is best known for its cultural heritage and its dramatic landscapes. Offering a vast array of exciting options for the visitor, the Panorama Route hosts some of the best adrenalin enhancing adventures in the country as well as some more placid pastimes encompassing visits to Bourke’s Luck Potholes were named after prospector Tom Bourke who discovered alluvial gold in there during the late 1880’s.

Thornhill Safari Lodge Kruger Park God’s Window, situated on the Drakensberg Escarpment is known to many as Paradise country, the lush region is home to a number of magnificent natural features such as striking rock formations, beautiful waterfalls like Lone Creek, Horse Shoe and Bridal Veil, spectacular endemic flora and fauna and awe-inspiring views.Finally, exactly as they sound, the Three Rondawels are three round mountain tops with slightly pointed tops, (very similar to the traditional round or oval African homesteads made with local materials called Rondawels).

The African bush takes on a different aspect when you’re on foot. Once again our experienced guides will take you walking in search of some of the most wondrous animals in Africa.

Our Staff Along the journey, you will learn more about the flora and fauna, the magnificence of the creepy-crawlies and the multitude of cultural and medicinal benefits that befall this wondrous land we inhabit.Their knowledge of the fauna and flora in the area is phenomenal and they are adept at unraveling well-kept secrets of nature.

A Kruger National Park Game Drive will highlight why the Kruger is world-renowned for its game viewing, where nearly 2 million hectares of an unrivaled diversity of life forms fuses with historical and archaeological sites, this is real Africa, and you can explore it on your Kruger Park Big 5 guided game drive.

Crocodile Bridge near the South gate Kruger National Park Departing the lodge at around 05h00, depending on the season, we drive to the Kruger National Park. Once inside the Park, we begin our game drive in an open safari game viewing vehicle. As your African safari experience unfolds your knowledgeable guide will be there to lead you along your way.We travel through the Kruger National Park en route to a picnic spot or popular campsite where you can enjoy breakfast and a break before continuing your safari. The rest of your day is spent game viewing, bird watching and stopping off at the various waterholes within the Park.

We depart the Park at gate closing time and arrive back at Thornhill for a hearty meal whilst sharing safari stories around the campfire with fellow travelers.

thornhill safari lodge kruger park The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable or endangered animals. Cheetah Conservation is one of their core disciplines.

There are currently less than 10 000 cheetahs worldwide, placing them on the endangered species list. The long-term goal of Cheetah Project is to replenish the wild cheetah population as well as reduce inbreeding and subsequent sterility of the cheetahs.
